Day 3 - Unexpected "Finds"
Thursday, May 17
Bodega Bay
Denis realized we needed distilled water for the batteries. There are really no grocery stores in the area so Denis thought he’d try Diekmann’s Bay Store. Not only did they have distilled water, they had so much more. What a great find-anything-you-need store!
It took a while for us to get out. We headed towards Sebastopol and the West County Bike Trail. It is a great trail though it is pieced together while having to ride a bit on roads and an unpaved section. We rode to Forestville and got focaccia from Nightingale Breads and ice cream from Angela’s. Both were wonderful. The Joe Robota Trail overlaps and goes on to Santa Rosa. We started on the trail but gave up about 2 miles from Santa Rosa since it was getting later and we had dinner plans.
We drove back through backroads. What a lovely area!
We looked for gas and found only one station - a 76. Luckily, the prices were within reason.
Dinner was at Terrapin Bay. I had seen it was a Michelin-reviewed restaurant but had second thoughts about spending the money. We bumped into a local woman who told us if we could get a reservation. I’d made one a few weeks ago, so we went. The food was delicious! We had a grilled sardine salad starter, the sea bass main, homemade lamb sausage pasta, with bread pudding for dessert. I would absolutely recommend the sardines and sea bass. So, so good.
