Trying to Keep Ahead of the Storms
March 29, 2023
This morning, we got up early and left before 7 in an attempt to avoid the high winds that were forecast. We were successful and aside from having one of the side mirrors (required when you tow) blow off, we reached our destination fairly easily.
Twenty-nine Palms looks like a typical desert town with some added public art.
I began planning too late to get a campsite in the park so we are in Twenty-nine Palms in an "RV Resort." Actually, it is a trailer park with a lot of residents and spaces for some transients.
It took a while to get checked in. Once we did, we headed to Joshua Tree National Park and drove Park Road through the park. The cold winds made it pretty inhospitable for hiking.
We stopped by Stater Brothers Grocery store and were happy to find a nice grocery store with decent prices.
Back at the resort, tonight was the night to barbeque at the community center. There are fire pits or barbeques. We had gotten carne asada at the grocery store. It was really delicious but the salsa and guacamole, while advertised as mild, crossed over my spice comfort level. Denis, in the other hand, thought they were good.
