Day 9, Time to be Home

March 30, 2023

Denis checked his phone early this morning and learned that his mom had died. We were able to make a quick exit.

We stopped at Campbell Hill Bakery in Twenty-nine Palms for breakfast pastries. Unfortunately, they only sell baked goods, no coffee. Fifteen minutes down the road was Joshua Tree Coffee Company. They only sell coffee, nothing to eat. Luckily, we were able to get what we needed and on the road.

The weather was a little windy but, except for losing the side mirror again, we did fine. We followed some of the route we took last week. There were definitely more fields of wildflowers. In another week, it'll probably be spectacular.
The Tehachapi Pass was beautiful with snow on the mountain sides. Luckily, the roads were clear.

The bakery we'd stopped out on the way out was closed so we went on. We stopped at Murray Farms, a place we'd stopped before. It was a great place to store and have lunch and get gas.

The only other stop was to find a date shake at California Fruit Depot.
We are back at Buena Vista Aquatic Park. It's rained since last time and our site has some standing water. Still, it is a lovely spot.
