Day 5
We decided to try Honeybee Bakery for breakfast pastries. We were much happier with the variety and quality of their choices. The bakery is down a short hallway and had a line of folks. We'd read that you have to get there early because they run out of things.
We hung around the campground for the morning. Alfred Loeb has a number of ancient Myrtlewood trees. One of the interesting trees is at our campsite.
After lunch, we headed down to Brookings. Ardith wanted to buy a book for a book club so the first stop was at a used bookstore. Next, we headed to a Sicilian-style Italian Ice place, Mama Crino's. They didn't have the traditional lemon ice flavor, but I had a combination of mango, strawberry-lemon, and maraschino lemon.
We had plans to go down to the harbor and do a short hike there, but it was really windy so we headed back to the campsite.
I took a short walk/hike on the same Redwood River View trail we had done on Wednesday. It is really nice to have that trail easily accessible from the campsite.
