Day 12, Take the Long Way Home
It is a beautiful drive along the ocean and through the redwoods but, oh my gosh, it can be slow going.
We decided to stop around Santa Rosa for lunch. We first pulled into Foothill Regional Park and realized there were no picnic tables. So, we went to Pleasant Oak Park, which was fine, but not somewhere I would go out of my way to go again.
After lunch, we headed into downtown Santa Rosa for artisan ice cream. We parked on the street and paid for two parking spaces for the SUV and the RV. Nimble & Finn's was good. They offered tastes, which is a nice return after Covid had pretty much ended all ice cream tasting. They had some interesting flavors. Denis had Lavendar Honeycomb and I had Plum Bourban Swirl. We each had another flavor which I can't remember. We sat outside and enjoyed our treat.
Before we got home, we stopped in Oakland at Gold Coin Car Wash. They have a truck bay which is easy to get into and out of. The pod and car certainly needed washing. You need to buy tokens which are $1 each. In all, I think we spent $24.00 to get them both more or less clean. Given the water restrictions due to the drought, it was worth it.
By this time, we were in Friday late afternoon traffic for the rest of the way home. I, for one, was happy to be home.
