Day 25, Quiet instead of the Storm
We had planned to spend the day with Jim and Ardith but decided that we would be flexible depending on the weather. Last night, the weather was expected to be windy and rainy. That helped us to decide to stay put with the hopes of better weather on Thursday.
The day started out overcast and windy. I went for a walk to try to beat the rain. But, while it drizzled a bit all day, the rain never really materialized. That gave us a chance to go for a nice walk in Lithia Park. The park follows Ashland Creek which originates in the mountains and provides the city of Ashland with the majority of its drinking water. We enjoyed walking through the park which can easily be accessed from downtown Ashland. I love when you can feel so far away while still being so near.
We stopped by Market of Choice. It is another regional grocery store that had a great variety of quality items. It is so nice to be able to shop these instead of the big chains to find good produce and bread.
We spent a lot of the day visiting and relaxing. Our other big adventure was going to Costco. For those of you who know we are not members, you will realize that this actually is a treat. We stocked up on more snacks than we will need for the two-day drive home. And, of course, Denis couldn't leave without a few bottles of wine.
We went into downtown Ashland for dinner at Osteria la Briccola, a northern Italian inspired restaurant. It opened during the pandemic and has become Ardith's favorite restaurant. We could understand why. We each had a pasta and all thoroughly enjoyed our choices.
