Day 21, A Nice Day for an Outing
The day started out as most days in Seattle. I was taking Cody for a walk. We were joined by Denis and Olivia in her stroller. We headed to Macrina, a bakery about half a mile from the house. We were advised by the locals to get the brioche egg sandwich and the hazelnut orange pinwheel. Both were delicious! We bought some cinnamon raisin bread to enjoy on our way home.
For the afternoon adventure, we headed to Snoqualmie Falls of Twin Peaks fame. Given the iffy weather we were totally surprised with the number of people who were there. We were able to find a parking space pretty quickly and their smart SUV helped us get into a space I never would have tried.
The falls is not very far from the parking lot down a boardwalk. Some of the water from the river that goes over the falls is diverted to two different hydro power plants. They supply 1% of Puget Sound Energy's power.
We decided to head down the path through a lovely forested area to the bottom of the falls. The path was down, down, down which meant that the path back was up, up, up (347'). We were warned to be on the lookout for wildlife, including Sasquatch, though I'm guessing there hasn't been a siting recently.. Maybe the Sasquatch warning was enough to keep the crowds down on the path.
Colleen and Alex took advantage of Olivia's sleeping in the car to explore Mercer Island. While they aren't exactly sure whether they will stay in Seattle for the long term, they are constantly checking out neighborhoods to see which community might be the best fit for them should they decide to stay.
Colleen and Denis had a kitchen adventure while I hung out with Olivia watching her explore and try to balance while standing. She is ready to take off adventuring and exploring if only her legs would keep her up.
