Day 12, Not Quite Roughing It

We drove north along 101 to Salt Creek Campground. We are so far north that T-Mobile has us roaming in Canada. That's happened before in Niagara Falls. That might be frustrating except for our lovely spot on the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
We are in a county campground and have chosen this spot, booked on January 1st, without hookups. The spots with water and electric are really close together. There area number of families in tents in our section despite the predicted rain. I figure we have it pretty good.

The drive here seemed long. There wasn't much traffic on the road and our most frequent traveling company were logging trucks. There is a lot of clear-cut logging along the road.

We drove through one end of the Olympic National Forest
and stopped along the Hoh River for our picnic lunch.
We arrived and set up the campsite just after low tide. The tidepools are just below us. We wandered for a while spotting all kinds of creatures (can you spot the fish?) and just enjoying the relatively warm and partly sunny day.
