Day 57, Better to Plan in Advance

We usually have breakfast in the campground. Denis found an Eater article about Tudor's Biscuit World, which is a West Virginia morning staple. He decided he wanted that for breakfast. So, we headed out before pulling up stakes. Luckily, there were outside tables so we could have our biscuits, eggs, cheese, and sausage for me and county ham for Denis while they were still warm. They were hearty and got us through much of the day.

We hadn't planned on coming through Kentucky but our new route changed that. Kentucky is the home of race horse stud farms and bourbon.

We passed a number of farms. They are large, open fields. We only spotted a few horses (do you see the one in the photo?) but the area was very picturesque.

We are outside Louisville tonight. On our way here we decided to stop at Woodford Reserve. We were not able to get on a tour. To ease the pain, they offer a "Cocktail Experience." With your choice of five different Woodford cocktails, you can sit on a rocking chair on their back porch and watch the birds swooping or the horses in the next field.

Buffalo Trace was only a little out of our way so we headed there next.

That is where we figured out that we should have done some advance planning. While you are welcome to visit the grounds and gift shops of most distilleries, tasting bourbon is part of a tour which must be reserved in advance.

I spent a considerable amount of time looking for a distillery that had reservations for two available tomorrow. I was successful, hopefully it'll be good.

The campground we are at is in Indiana. There was an accident on our way here causing us to arrive much later than we would have liked. Since the site is electric only, we needed to fill the tank with water before parking. We found out the water station was before you go through the campground entrance, meaning we had to turn around and go out. The site is slightly more sloped than we usually find and the next door couple is sitting outside listening to their country music. Quiet hours don't start until 11:00 pm.

At least I had a reasonably fast, easy dinner planned and we still had a bottle of wine from the winery we went to when we were camping at Watkins Glen. 🤞 we have a restful night.
