Day 28, When Ice Cream is the Day's Highlight

It was another day of a lot of driving. We passed through Iowa and into Illinois. One of the differences is the cities off the freeway are larger in Illinois. Another difference is we have begun to see people wearing masks.

The highlight of the day was finding good local ice cream, Oberweis Ice Cream and Dairy Store, and grocer,  Harvest Market.

Have I mentioned that Denis's high school reunion (the impetus for the trip) has been canceled? Only a few weeks out and it's been canceled due to concerns over the Delta variant. That gave us pause to reconsider our trip home. We had planned taking a more southern route and visiting friends along the way. But with the Delta variant surgering, we are thinking we may instead take a more central route back home. Luckily, is held making reservation.

For tonight, we are in Kickapoo State Park outside of Champagne-Urbana. Tomorrow, we'll explore the area staying here a second night. After three straight days of driving, it will be a nice break.
