Day 10, Back to Port Townsend to pick up the Pod

We got to start the day with a walk with Cody, Olivia, and Colleen. We walked to my favorite close-by view for one final look on this trip. We also walked through a P-Patch. This was one of 89 community gardens spread throughout Seattle neighborhoods. The name P-Patch came from the original community garden whose land was donated by the Picardo Family. 3,000 families take advantage of the P-Patches grow vegetables and flowers.

It is always hard for me to say goodbye to Colleen. Now it's doubly hard with Olivia. It is so good that there are video calls. I often wonder at the determination of my grandmothers to make a new life in the United States. When they left, there were no phones, just international, transatlantic mail. So happy technology enables us to keep in closer touch.

We stopped at Macrina Bakery before heading to Edmonds to catch the ferry. We got there 30 minutes before the ferry was scheduled to leave but too late to get on... Waiting gave us the opportunity to check out a Seattle donut chain, Top Pot. Back at the car, we thoroughly enjoyed the Savory Snail from Macrina. Maybe we didn't choose the right items or maybe it was because Macrina was so excellent, but I won't be hurrying back for the donuts.

We ended the day, back in Port Townsend. Time to do laundry and shopping, and for Denis to do the repair job on the pantry shelves.

  1. So glad you got to visit with Coleen and family. I lived in Edmonds for 6 years when I was in elementary school, lots of fond memories. Looking forward to reading more about your adventures. Safe travels, Susan
