Day 1, July 23rd Our Way

After years of talking about it and months of planning, we are on our way!

The hills of California are golden and oh so very dry. While we enjoy passing through fields and farms, we wondered if the dried and drooping sunflowers were supposed to look like that or if the weather had affected the crops.

Our first stop was planned to be at a Harvest Host farm. Luckily, the owner contacted us with a warning of triple digit temps and suggested that is we didn't have a generator (we don't), we make alternate plans.

A quick plan B had us reserving at Rolling Hills Casino RV park. It had been suggested by Denis's sister as a convenient stop over. At $33 with full hook ups and drive through spots, it was an easy start to the trip.

The temperatures peaked at 108! Making dinner was not on the cards. Rock and Brews, in the casino, offered beer on tap, surprisingly good fish tacos, and  beignets for dessert. Win!

By the time we returned, the pod had cooled. We joined our Western Wheeler friends for an online viewing of "Chasing  Legends" the story of the 2018 Tour de France.

Day 1 is in the books😊
